Today, I can officially say my toddler began walking (3 days before turning 15 months old). He has been taking steps here and there, but for the most part has felt most confident cruising while holding onto furniture. I could tell he was getting more comfortable standing on his own two feet, but today on several occasions he took more than 7 consecutive steps. He was so elated that he squealed out loud while doing it! I was so proud of him and thankful that his dad was home from work and also able to witness this incredible milestone. The funny thing is, he wasn’t wobbly at all. His steps were smooth and I think the only reason he fell was because he was so excited about his accomplishment. On second thought, it could have been the fact my husband and I cheered so loudly that it frightened him!

I guess this is when the fun begins for me as a stay at home mom (SAHM). He crawls at lightening speed so I cannot even imagine what it’s going to be like once he is running. Other than climbing on top of everything, his favorite activity has been pushing chairs, boxes, and toys around our house. He has already experienced one major wipe out while pushing a box and I’m sure there will be many more spills as he gains more confidence with walking.

Today was bittersweet because I realized my baby truly isn’t a baby anymore. Seems like I was just bringing my little bundle of joy home from the hospital and now he is walking! Next, I’m going to blink my eyes and he’ll be driving.

Thanks for visiting The Unemployed Mom. Wish me luck!
