A Gift For Teaching #30DaysOfCaring Day 10

For Day 10 of #30DaysOfCaring, I am highlighting another Central Florida deserving organization, A Gift For Teaching (AGFT). Since 1998,  AGFT has been Central Florida’s primary provider of free school supplies to teachers for their students in need.

There are 180,000 kids whose families live at or below the poverty line.  But the most shocking number is that 12,000 of those students are homeless. Since 1998, AGFT has distributed $80 million in school supplies. To put that simply, $50,000 worth of pencils, crayons, books, and art supplies are taken back to classrooms every day!

“Students need supplies to learn.  Teachers need tools to teach.  Our community needs young people to drive our future.  A Gift For Teaching is the connector.”

Mission: To improve public education by providing resources and surplus materials free to teachers for their students in need.

Vision: To ensure every child has the tools and experiences to succeed in school and life.
