I am one of those parents who swore I’d NEVER introduce fast food to my son. He is a good eater who prefers organic fruits and vegetables over anything else (I am not exaggerating). The child has only had french fries on one or two occasions which was while traveling and dining with his grandparents. They were shocked to learn he wasn’t a big fan, how many kids do not like french fries? I sometimes bake Alexia All Natural Sweet Potato fries and he does enjoy those.

I mentioned in a recent post that my family moved. During the move, I was feeling stressed out and can admit I am a stress eater. Well, I pulled through the McDonald’s drive through and ordered a double cheeseburger and small fries. I wondered how my son would like them and made the mistake of handing him one. The child went nuts! He was signing “more more” non-stop and begging for them.

I didn’t tell my husband about our McDonald’s experience because I knew how disappointed he’d be. The truth came out this weekend. As we drove by a McDonald’s, my son started going crazy pointing and saying “ummmm”. I couldn’t believe that he recognized those golden arches! He did the same thing when he saw a McDonald’s billboard on I-4 yesterday. My husband asked why he was doing that, so I confessed. We are both in shocked that one drive through experience and a few french fries made such a lasting impression on my toddler!
