Itsy Bitsy Spider

ArachnophobiaEarlier in the week, I noticed a huge Wolf spider on my ceiling. All day long I kept looking up to make sure it didn’t wander off. I’ll be the first to admit, spiders really freak me out! I had nightmares for weeks after watching Arachnophobia when I was a kid. Being the girl that I am, I waited until my husband came home to let him know we were not alone. It was almost as if he completely ignored my statement once he found out there was a spider in the house. My husband hates creepy crawly things just as much as I do (and I’m sure he appreciates me broadcasting this to the world).

Around 9 pm, I looked up and realized the spider wasn’t in the spot he had occupied all day long. I asked my husband if he took care of our little visitor and of course he did not. I insisted I was not going to bed until we found the spider, so the lights came on and we were in search mode. Since the spider was on the larger side, we were able to spot him fairly quickly on the ceiling.

I had the bright idea we could throw my son’s Baby Einstein soft soccer ball to try to knock him down. My husband started tossing as I held a paper towel ready to pick him up. Of course, this was a fun game and it was hard to control our laughter (the bottle of wine we shared could have added to the humor), but my son never woke. Eventually, we knocked the spider down and … of course we released him back into nature. I couldn’t even imagine the mess squishing that enormous spider would have caused! Or at least that’s the story I’m sticking to!

Thanks for visiting The Unemployed Mom!
