Nap Time
by The Unemployed Mom on 29/07/10 at 4:42 pm
Today is a day that I hoped I’d never see…the day when my son refused to take a nap. I have heard other mothers talk about how their child gave them up and I prayed this would not happen to us. But sadly, it has. My only hope now is that today was just a one off and tomorrow, he’ll beg to nap like usual. Also, you can rest assure that I will make him so exhausted that he willingly climbs into his crib!
No one said life was fair. Instead of complaining that I didn’t get my “me” time today, I’m going to go snuggle with my fussy little man. Tomorrow is another day.

A lot of times kids seem to out grow their naps. You were about his age when you quit taking naps. I even tried taking a nap to make you get one. The bad part of that was, I would take the nap and you would try to go play. You would even poke me in the eyes to make me wake up. I know where you are coming from. Love you guys.

No way, I was an angel child. I never did things like that.

I wouldn’t worry! It was probably just a fluke. There have been days that Ava has refused to nap, but even at almost 4-years-old (in October) she still takes a nap just about every day. I’m sure you’ll get your “me” time tomorrow!

I hope you are right Brie! Just in case, I plan on wearing his little butt out!

Oh babe, I am crossing my fingers for you. The stress of figuring out if you can last the day when they don’t take a nap – when they clearly need it, is too much. Should you keep them up, should you trick them into it, …etc.
Waiting to hear what tomorrow brings.

I would love to know how old your boy is? My daughter will be 3 this month & I am dreading that day. She NEVER has been a good sleeper, but I know she is always tired. Toddlers are so challenging! Just when you think you are getting the hang of it… They Change the Game on You!!!
Hang in There, Jessica

Hi Jessica, my son is 27 months old. For some reason, we went through a 4 day span where he refused to nap. It was rough to say the least. Thank GOODNESS that is over! He is back to napping 2-4 hours per day and I have my sanity back. Not sure what the disruption was, but thankful it is over. I agree, toddlers are so challenging!
