Save Money with Hand Me Downs

Hand me down baby clothes are the best thing ever because they save you an insane amount of money! Yesterday, my sister-in-law brought 2 enormous trash bags filled with clothing and a large Rubbermaid container loaded with toys! She could have easily sold this stuff and made a killing, but instead generously filled my sons closet with designer clothing for the next year! We are very grateful!

I started wondering if there are any tools online that help connect people to hand-me-downs and sure enough, I found a website called HandMeDowns.org! What a terrific idea! It appears only 13 items are currently listed, but perhaps this post will encourage others to give it a try.

HandMeDowns.com is another option, it is an online classifieds site for moms where you can buy, sell, give away or donate new and “gently used” baby gear, toys, clothes and childcare services. I didn’t spend a lot of time on the website, but it does appear to be organized and easy to navigate.

Are you lucky enough to receive hand me downs from a loved one? Do you pass along items when your child outgrows them? If so, pat yourself on the back for your green recycling efforts! Not only are you clearing out unwanted clutter from your home, but you are also helping the environment!

Thanks for stopping by and remember to bookmark The Unemployed Mom.
