One Year #Medifast Comparison + Cross One Off My Bucket List!

One Year #Medifast Comparison + Cross One Off My Bucket List!

My weight loss success has inspired others I know to join Medifast. To date, total weight loss from 5 of my friends/loved ones totals 140 lbs! Not joking. ONE HUNDRED AND FORTY POUNDS! That’s insane. So proud of each and every single one of them, they know who they are! Keep up the great work, simply amazing!

Now, here is the kicker. Last year (November 2011) I attended a holiday event called ICE (it’s a beautiful frozen ice sculpture display that is kept at a frigid 9 degrees, hence the enormous blue parkas). One year later, I attended the same event. TAKE A LOOK AT THESE PHOTOS. They have not been altered in any way shape or form! I knew I looked different, but this photo just made me realize how different!

Here’s a close up comparison!

Yesterday, I RAN MY FIRST HALF MARATHON. The race was at 7 am, I did not drink any coffee and only had a Medifast Oatmeal Raisin crunch bar and a Mixed Berry CalorieBurn infuser stir-in (I needed a little caffeine for 13.1 miles!) for breakfast. I was prepared, lots of training miles in the books. I wanted to do my very best and my goal was to keep my finish time under 2 hours. There was never a doubt in my mind about not finishing, my focus was on how amazing it was going to feel to cross this accomplishment off my bucket list.

My training paid off, I felt great until I hit mile 9. My energy level drained tremendously when I had to run up an overpass (despite I have been doing hill intervals and sprints). By mile 12 1/2, I was praying the race would soon end.  The final half mile seemed like 5 miles, but I didn’t give up. I just keep running. Strangers along the way kept yelling “you got this” and “you’re almost there, great job” and that kept me motivated.

Here are my results:

  • Half Marathon (13.1 miles) Time: 1:54:39.
  • 3rd place in my age group (35 – 39) for females
  • Placed 13th out of ALL females
  • 63rd overall

Get this, my time would have taken first place in the 30-34 year old group, sigh…but I’m 35.

I snapped this as I crossed the finish line!

All in all, it was a great experience. I worked hard to prepare for this race and my training paid off. YOU TOO can achieve your goals, just believe in yourself.
