It has been months since I have written a Medifast update. I have been successful transitioning into to my “new normal“. I know my limits and recognize my triggers for eating (stress, emotions, boredom, etc.). I enjoy eating healthy and hate the way my body feels when I do not!
I also know that lacing up my running shoes is a terrific way to burn off steam, instead of shoving comfort foods into my mouth. Since my son is now in school, I no longer run with a jogging stroller. Last week, I ran a mile in 7 minutes and 30 seconds. I have also increased my distance speed, my five mile runs take under 45 minutes now. I think back to early 2012 when I was battling pneumonia and how difficult it was to even walk 1/4 of a mile without coughing nonstop. Then, once I began healing my miles were in the 12 minute range. But I never gave up, I kept battling through it.
A family member recently joined Medifast and in three shorts weeks, she has already dropped 11 pounds! Even while vacationing, she remained focused and lost weight. Prior to joining the program she had lost 8 pounds on her own, so her total loss to date is 19 pounds. I am beyond excited to watch her success. It’s fun being her personal cheerleader and sharing tips, recipes and stories. I keep telling her to keep her eye on the prize and nothing tastes as good as being healthy feels. Her doctor was thrilled when she discussed Medifast with him, she has been on cholesterol medicine and the doctor is confident this program will make a difference!
