Words That Melt Me

My son’s vocabulary has increased significantly. I love hearing him puts words together. Well, that is if those phrases are not “no mommy” or “stop it mommy”.

I woke up Sunday morning to my son yelling for me to come and rescue him from his crib. I picked him up and gave him his usual morning squeeze, complete with bear grunting sounds. As I routinely laid him on his diaper changer, he looked me straight in the eyes and said “love you mommy” in the sweetest little voice. I was completely dumbfounded. It brought tears to my eyes! This is the first time he has ever told me he loves me, usually I’ll say “do you love mommy” and he repsonds with “yes” or “uh huh”. Not that morning!

It was the absolute sweetest thing I have ever heard, my heart actually melted a little! What precious words! It almost makes up for all the back talking and toddler tantrums that he strategically throws in public….you heard me, almost.
