I don’t know about you, but I am sick and tired of unethical real estate agents! Whatever happened to having the client’s best interest at heart? To them, it’s all about the dollar bill! They want their commission and will do anything in their power to get it (even if it means lying and misrepresenting clients). I am over greedy, unprofessional agents that only care about themselves! This behavior needs to stop and the only way it will is if we do something about it! Report them! If you live in Florida, you can file a complaint here.
Also, here is the National Association of Realtors’ (NAR) 2010 Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice. Make sure your agent is familiar with these.
If you are one of the lucky ones who has a trustworthy agent, then hang on to him or her. They are hard to come by! If you do not have an agent and are seeking one, be selective! Finding a good agent is a crap-shoot! My advice is not to just pick someone who has a listing that you’re interested in, instead ask your friends, family and colleagues for recommendations. This person will represent you, so make sure he or she is a good fit before giving them your business. Otherwise, they will end up embarrassing you.
