Volunteering and bringing awareness to deserving charities and organizations is something I am passionate about. My entire family gets involved. These types of lessons (acts of kindness and compassion) cannot be taught from a book, they must be experienced. With that said, instead of a holiday gift guide on The Unemployed Mom, I plan to focus on 30 Days of Caring. For 30 days, I will share ways you, your family, coworkers, groups, etc. can get involved and make a difference. Since some of these are holiday specific, I am starting the posts today…

Below are some photos from the 2014 Epcot Food & Wine Festival. The festival is happening now through November 10, 2014, don’t miss it! Also, don’t forget about Epcot Food & Wine Late Night Live! It’s an after-hours street party (special ticket required).
Wordless Wednesday: Sea Dog Brewing Co
We recently discovered Sea Dog Brewing Co. located near the gates of Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida. It’s a family friendly place with games outside for kids of all ages to enjoy. It’s the perfect place to watch a game (there are big screens everywhere) and/or to spend some time with friends. They have a big menu filled with delicious appetizers, food and brews. Opt for the beer sampler, but you may have a hard time deciding which four to try…there are many to choose from. But, I guarantee…
Wordless Wednesday: Winter Olympics 2030
My son is preparing for the 2030 Winter Olympics! He skates/plays ice hockey daily and WILL help team USA earn the gold medal. Here are 2 quotes he lives by… “If it’s amazing, it won’t be easy. If it’s worth it, you won’t give up.” and “The body achieves what the mind believes.”
Wordless Wednesday: Hockey Life
I have slacked on Wordless Wednesday posts, so I wanted to share a collage of what our life looks like now. My second home is RDV Ice Den, we spend a LOT of time there since my boy started playing in the mites league. It’s so exciting to watch him learn and grow!
Wordless Wednesday: An Awesome Dog Sign
This sign is awesome! I saw it today by the baseball fields and had to snap a picture!
Wordless Wednesday: Custom Ornaments
Today, I received the sweetest gift! I met a super sweet person through an ebay transaction and we have stayed in touch. Imagine my surprise when I opened my mailbox and saw these custom ornaments… She was so thoughtful, even included my beloved Bailey! My son keeps pulling them off our tree and carrying them around, he thinks they are super cool (and so do I)! So, if you’re looking for a unique Christmas gift…here you go! These definitely make a statement.
Wordless Wednesday: First Field Trip
My son had his first school field trip this week and I went as a chaperon. We saw The Nutcracker performed at The Plaza Live. It was a shortened version so the preschoolers wouldn’t get too restless. The ballet was beautiful, but my son kept asking where the bad guys were and why the characters didn’t talk. Afterwards he said “ballets are for girls, mommy“. But, he was really excited when we purchased two nutcracker ornaments for our Christmas tree. YEARS from now when he is on his own…
