Mommy Confession

I did something last night at Epcot I swore I’d never do. For those who have never been to Epcot, you really need to go! I refer to it as the grown up Disney World. If you stay in the back portion and visit all the countries represented, you’d never know you are in a theme park! Instead, you have about a mile and a half of culture, food and adult beverages! It’s quite tranquil at night, which in my opinion is the perfect time to visit. Our goal was…

Free Fallin’ Subliminal Messages

My son loves to dance. After a long day of playing outside, I was able to coax him inside by suggesting we go in and listen to music. He agreed and ran inside. “Free Fallin’” by Tom Petty was playing on the radio. I am NOT joking, in the short time that song played my son fell off my bed and cracked his head on the hardwood floors twice! I needed to distract him from crying so I could check to make sure he didn’t have a huge lump or…

No

My son is obsessed with the word “no” and has been using it regularly. When I ask him to put his shoes away, the response is “no”. I let him know dinner is ready and ask him to come and eat…I hear “no”. My favorite is, “do you need a fresh diaper” even though I don’t need to ask since I can smell him, the response is of course “no”. Just this second, I told him to stop climbing on the stool and grabbing items off of my countertop, the…

Freedom

We visited family over the Christmas holiday and I took a little break from my blog and eBay. I also left my son in the care of others – for the FIRST TIME since becoming a stay at home mom. I wasn’t nervous one bit, there’s something about having my own mother take care of my child that brought me comfort. My husband and I snuck out while he was playing cars in another room. I felt like jumping up and down and screaming once we were outside, but refrained.…

Finding Nemo

My kid is obsessed with the movie Finding Nemo. He would watch it morning, noon and night if I’d let him, but I do not. He fell in love with The Seas With Nemo And Friends at Epcot even before seeing the movie, but now he really gets it. I use the movie to reward him for good behavior or when I need to get something done like cooking, cleaning, items listed on eBay, etc. Since he has not been napping regularly, this is my “go to” item when I…

Essentials For Potty Training

We attempted potty training about a year ago and it was unsuccessful. Despite the fact my kid tells me “no” when he does not want his potty book read to him or his Elmo’s Potty dvd on, I am DETERMINED he will find a new enthusiastic attitude. Since the potty chair was a failure, today I bought him a Thomas The Train soft potty seat so he can use the real toilet. I also purchased hair dye to cover the additional gray hair he is going to cause as well…

Poop Happens

After my son’s bath, we put a Pull-Up on him until he is ready for bed. He is not being potty trained, we are just using the stash I received from my Potty Ambassador gig. Diapers are expensive and I do not want the Pull-Ups to go to waste. Besides, they are not designed to absorb a lot and usually work out perfectly for that short period of time. Anyway, he was in his room playing while I was cleaning up the kitchen. All of the sudden he came running…

Tips For Flying With A Toddler

Recently, I’ve received questions from people about to travel with little ones. Also, I have responded to other bloggers inquiring how to keep their sanity when traveling with a toddler. Here are a few tips that may help your experience be less chaotic. Take a copy of your child’s birth certificate for check-in purposes. Bring along your child’s FAA approved car seat. I have found my kid behaves so much better when he is confined in his car seat. For easier traveling with a car seat, see my previous post…
