Babies”R”Us

Have you ever tried to return something to Babies”R”Us and been denied? Well, it happened to me a few times and I’m really not happy about it. My frustrations with this company started back when I was pregnant. I created my baby registry online and wrapped it up inside our local store with the scanner. Anyway, Babies”R”Us gifts started arriving at my home from family and friends. A few items that I tried to exchange (the online store sent incorrect colored merchandise), I was told I’d have to mail the…

ALERT: Graco Recalls 1.5 Million Strollers

Here we go again, another major recall for parents to be aware of. Last year, it was Maclaren that recalled over 1 million strollers, well now it is Graco’s turn and for similar reasons! Graco Children’s Products Inc. is recalling approximately 1.5 million strollers and travel systems that were sold at major retailers after fingertips were amputated by hinges on the products. This recall by Graco includes certain model numbers of its Passage, Alano and Spree Strollers and Travel Systems (the complete list can be found here). These particular strollers…

I am proud to announce Mended Little Hearts now has a chapter in my home town of Winchester, Virginia. Mended Little Hearts, a support program for parents of children with heart defects and heart disease, is dedicated to inspiring hope in those who…

Gender

Do NOT make an assumption about gender. Today, an old lady at a Mt. Dora, Florida antique shop loudly exclaimed how beautiful my little girl was with her blonde curls. HELLO!!! My SON is gorgeous, but take note on his outfit….it screams BOY! Is he wearing pink or purple? No! He’s wearing blue jeans, black Converse tennis shoes and a white polo shirt. Nothing about that attire is feminine so why would you assume he’s a she? How did I respond? I rudely said “he is a little boy” and…

Recall: Monday The Bullfrog Plush Books

There has been another recall that parents need to be aware of. This time, it is a plush toy with an attached board book. Simon & Schuster has announced that “Monday the Bullfrog Plush Books” need to be immediately removed from your child’s reach. The plastic eyeballs on the plush frog can detach, which may pose a choking hazard. Contact Simon & Schuster to receive a replacement book. For more information, you can call the company at 1-800-732-9531. The CPSC statement can be found here.

Bugaboo Cameleon Case Study

I purchased the Bugaboo Cameleon for one main reason, it had a bassinet feature that my son could sleep in beside of my bed. My husband and I fell in love with the Ooba Nest bassinet; however, the company went out of business and we couldn’t get our hands on one. To be honest, the $600 price tag was also very difficult for me to swallow for a bassinet that my son would probably only use for a few months (it is now $1000 if you can locate it at…

Family Friendly Parking

My family went to Ikea recently and attempted to park in the Family Friendly designated parking area. Having a toddler, I know from experience how challenging it can be to get from my car into the store without a struggle. It is very considerate of Ikea to provide these parking spaces close to the entrance. I wish more stores would adopt the Family Friendly parking concept! Anyway, I was appalled at the number of people parking in the Family Friendly area WITHOUT children or babies. It is not my place…
