Buy, Sell & Trade On Local Facebook Groups Instead of Craigslist

In the past, I have talked about how to make money selling items via ebay and Craigslist. To be honest, I have not used Craigslist for years because I was tired of receiving phishing messages and the Craigslist horror stories are just too frightening. Instead, I have been joining local facebook buy/sell/trade groups and have found those to be way more effective. We are the process of renovating a historic home in Tampa. We gutted the bathroom and kitchen, so I will be selling those old appliances via a local neighborhood facebook group.…

eBay Tip: Western Union Is Prohibited

Recently, a friend emailed inquiring about paying via Western Union on eBay motors. Apparently, the seller provided a non-Western Union address for the money to be wired and my friend was smart enough to realize something wasn’t right. She emailed asking what I thought and my initial response was PayPal is the ONLY method I’d personally use if an electronic payment was required since they provide a buyer protection program. A quick Internet search confirmed my suspicions, “eBay does not allow MoneyGram or Western Union as payment methods, so any…

Craigslist Tip For Reducing Spam Emails

There is nothing more frustrating than receiving a Craigslist email asking “is this still available“. Usually, when a seller replies “yes”, the response is a poorly disguised phishing email trying to obtain personal information and/or offering more money to remove the listing and consider it sold. Recently, I stopped putting a value into the “Price” section when creating my listing. Instead, I include my asking price inside the description. This has cut down TREMENDOUSLY on phishing emails! Perhaps spammers have a program created based on the “Price” value that alerts them when…

I have seen your posting and wanted to ask you something essential. I am in a relationship and caught my partner cheating on me so I decided to get even! My coworker said cl would be the best place to find someone nearby…

Craigslist Scam Exposed: Using Religion To Trick Sellers

Recently I received this message from mattlock004 <mattlock004@gmail.com>: Hello, I would like to know if you still have this antique available for sale. Do get back to me on my email. Matt Red flags went up immediately, especially after reading the last line. I responded with “yes it is available”.
