Clearwater Marine Aquarium continues its free Making Waves speaker series October 16 with Dr. Heather Masonjones, presenting the unique behaviors and reproductive physiology of seahorses and related fish.

Seahorses are the only animal species where the male gives birth.  The male seahorse is equipped with a pouch on the front side of the tail, in which the female deposits up to 1,500 eggs. This and other behaviors of the seahorse will be discussed in detail.

Dr. Masonjones is a Professor of Biology at the University of Tampa and is a marine biologist who specializes in seahorses and related fish species.

This free speaker series is geared towards anyone wanting to learn more about marine life and is open to all ages.

6.30 – 7.30 pm:  Guest speaker, Dr. Heather Masonjones, University of Tampa

7.30 – 8pm:  Q & A session
