Walmart is calling on us to take action in the fight against hunger!
If you are a regular blog follower, you already know how much my family loves Second Harvest Food Bank of Central Florida! We enjoy volunteering there as well as donating to help stop hunger in our community. Walmart launched a nationwide campaign on September 15, 2014 called “Fight Hunger. Spark Change.” This campaign allows the public to get involved in the fight against hunger and will provide $3.7 million in grants to participating Feeding America food banks and local partner agencies (like Second Harvest Food Bank of Central Florida).
How can YOU get involved?
From September 15 through October 5, visit www.walmart.com/fighthunger and cast one vote per day that will help direct grants to participating Feeding America food banks and local partner agencies across the country. The 50 winning food banks will each receive a $60,000 grant. The campaign also provides information on how customers can donate or volunteer to take a direct action in the fight against hunger in their local communities.
As part of the initiative, Walmart is teaming up with acclaimed chef, cookbook author and TV host, G. Garvin, and calling on the public to support their local food banks by voting online at www.walmart.com/fightinghunger.
Sadly, millions of American’s do not know where their next meal will come from. Without your votes, many of our neighbors in need are in danger of not receiving the benefits of this grant.
If Second Harvest Food Bank of Central Florida wins a $60,000 grant, they will be able to provide an additional 315,000 meals into our Central Florida community (including Brevard, Volusia, Orange, Osceola, Lake, and Seminole counties).
