Topic:  Photosynthetic sea slugs

Clearwater Marine Aquarium continues its free Making Waves speaker series September 18 with Dr. Michael Middlebrooks, who will discuss one of the ocean’s strangest creatures,  an animal that can make food like a plant.  Join us for a peek into the world of photosynthetic sea slugs.

Dr. Middlebrooks is an Assistant Professor of Biology at the University of Tampa.  He is a marine ecologist with an emphasis on photosynthetic sea slugs. His research is particularly focused on how photosynthetic activity affects the behavior and ecological interactions for motile marine herbivores.

This free speaker series is geared towards anyone wanting to learn more about our marine life and is open to all ages.

6.00 pm: Welcome and refreshments provided by Costco Wholesale

6.30 – 7.30 pm: Guest speaker, Dr. Michael Middlebrooks, University of Tampa

7.30 – 8:00 pm: Q & A session
