Keeping with a very important Swedish social event tradition, IKEA will be hosting their annual all-you-can-eat Swedish Crayfish Party on August 16, 2013.
In Sweden, the “kräftskiva” (crayfish party) is usually held in August during the height of the crayfish season. It’s a time for friends to get together and celebrate warm weather and enjoy fresh crayfish. It’s customary to wear funny hats and sing drinking songs while taking snaps (aka shots). The party typically continues well into the night and laughter and singing can be heard all across the country.
IKEA’s version will have the following menu:
Tossed green salad
Cucumber salad
Hardboiled eggs with mayo & shrimp
Shell-on prawns with cocktail sauce
Najad salmon with horseradish or mustard sauce
Crayfish
Crispbread, crisp rolls, dinner rolls
Assorted Swedish cheeses
Meatballs with loganberries
Mashed potatoes
Boiled dill new potatoes
Assorted Swedish desserts & cookies
Coffee, tea, fountain beverages
Seating is limited, so make sure to purchase your tickets at your local IKEA store. Also, join the IKEA FAMILY and not only save on your Crayfish party ticket, but enjoy discounts and membership perks throughout the year (membership is free)!
