One Year Later #Medifast Update

I transitioned into Medifast maintenance mode at the end of April 2012. It has been well over a year now, I’m sure you are wondering how I’m doing? So, here’s the scoop!

I have maintained my weight loss for well over a year now. Sure, I have seen some fluctuation but I know moderation is key! I do splurge and enjoy various foods and beverages, BUT I also use Medifast products to stay healthy since they are packed with vitamins and taste great.

I still graze throughout the day (remember, on the 5&1 plan meals are every 2-3 hours apart). This helps, I do not find myself starving and eating whatever is around! Plus, I always have Medifast “on the go” products readily available when hunger strikes. Literally, you will find them in my car, purse, etc.

The photo on the left was when I hit my goal weight in March 2012 (in my personal opinion, I was too thin for my frame but I was caught up on the scale number). The photo on the right is from today (14 months later). I will admit, I am a few pounds heavier, but I am comfortable in my skin and I am still wearing the same size I did a year ago (4’s and 6’s). It’s not about the scale, it’s about how I feel (and I feel fantastic)!

14MonthComparisonI do not obsess about my weight, I live an extremely active lifestyle. I let my clothing tell me if I need to be stricter and perhaps drop a few pounds! When I feel that way, I easily slip back into the 5&1 or 4&2 for a few weeks.

I have gained a lot of muscle by adding weight training, squats and hill running. I am not exaggerating on the active part either…here’s a snap shot of my workouts since I joined MapMyRun in September 2012. I have logged 582 miles in 93+ hours and burned in excess of 59,000 calories.

IT’S ALL ABOUT BALANCE. For me, I found what worked. Medifast helped me take control and start living a healthier lifestyle. I whole-heartedly recommend this program! I was able to not only lose weight and have a healthy BMI again but recognize my food triggers. I am a stress eater and night time muncher. Once those patterns were recognized, I was able to make changes that shaved off calories! Plus, exercise is a critical part of my life. I feel so much better after a long run, my mind and body feel cleansed. Running is therapeutic!

I’ll leave you with one last photo comparison to show what a difference getting in shape has made. I was sooooo puffy on the left (photo taken in 2011 prior to starting the Medifast program on 1/1/12)! It pains me to see that photo because I truly struggled to lose weight after my son was born. BUT, it is a reminder of where I will never be again! I am committed to my health, not just for myself but for my family!
