Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party 2011

Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party 2011

Last weekend, my family had the opportunity to visit the Magic Kingdom for Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party (MVMCP). If you have ever visited Disney parks during the Christmas season, then you already know how beautiful the decorations are. But MVMCP is a different experience altogether thanks to the beautiful extras that come along with the special event ticket. By extras I mean:

  • Beautiful Castle Dream Lights on Cinderella Castle
  • Mickey’s Once Upon A Christmastime Parade, which includes Santa
  • Holiday Wishes: Celebrate the Spirit of the Season fireworks display
  • Live entertainment which features your favorite Disney Characters
  • Meet and greet opportunities throughout Magic Kingdom theme park with some of your favorite Disney pals
  • Complimentary cookies, hot cocoa, apple slices and apple juice
  • Snow falling on Main Street, U.S.A.

Living in Central Florida, it can be difficult to get into the holiday spirit without snow and cold weather, but MVMCP puts that magical spin on Christmas! Even though it was in the 70’s, we still enjoyed hot chocolate and cookies. I was thrilled to see Disney offering apple juice and apple slices upon request, that is what my son preferred.

While we thoroughly enjoyed the festivities, we also took advantage of short attraction lines. My son was able to ride his absolute favorite, Tomorrowland Speedway three times! He was in heaven. We jumped on a few other rides then decided to visit the party host! Again, no wait since we snuck in while the parade was going down Main Street USA! As soon as my kid spotted them, he noticed they were not dressed as Mickey and Minnie Claus (for some reason, he expected them to be decked out in Santa Claus gear). But, they still looked very festive in their red and green attire! After giving hugs, they all posed for the camera. Of course, my son was saying “cheese” and Mickey and Minnie kept putting their hands over their mouths and giggling. It was hysterical!

My favorite moment of the night was when the Disney photographer returned our Photo Pass after capturing some adorable memories. My son turned to Mickey and Minnie and told them “I want a blue box of legos, please”! I really wish my video camera was on, everyone in the room thought it was the cutest thing ever! That’s when it hit me, he thought they would be dressed like Mr. & Mrs. Claus so he could tell them his Christmas wish list! So yes, there will be a blue box of legos under our tree from Mickey and Minnie!

MVMCP has become a family tradition for us, we thoroughly enjoyed it. My favorite part of the event was watching Holiday Wishes: Celebrate the Spirit of the Season fireworks display. There is something moving about the beautiful Disney fireworks being set to Christmas tunes. I cannot lie, a tear filled my eye when “I’ll Be Home For Christmas” played.

There are still tickets available for MVMCP, for more information and to purchase tickets click here. The Disney website indicates “Event dates are selling out quickly, so be sure to purchase your tickets soon!”

* Disney provided tickets for my family to attend the Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party; however, the opinions expressed are my own.
