If you didn’t already know, today is Earth Day! I know there will be some who hear the term and roll their eyes, but I think this day is very special. Today is a day to teach our children about taking care of the planet. There are ways to involve your family and make this day fun. Kermit was wrong, it IS easy being green!
In the past, I shared 15 money saving green tips. Many of these do not cost a dime, instead they could possibly save you money!
Below are some ideas how your family can contribute to Earth Day. I would love to hear your suggestions in the comments!
- Carpool to work.
- Take a reusable mug to Starbucks and enjoy complimentary coffee and tea TODAY!
- Take a walk with your family.
- Pick up trash in your neighborhood.
- Clean a local park.
- Plant a seed, flower, or tree.
- Use reusable bags at the grocery store.
- Make a bird feeder for your backyard.
- Stop using harsh chemicals, instead opt for natural solutions.
B Kind 2 Earth Day is a collaborative effort between Nickelodeon, The National Wildlife Federation, TheMotherhood.com and bloggers across the country. The goal is to “encourage people to promise to do at least one earth-friendly action on April 22, 2011 — and beyond.” Bloggers representing their respective state are asking readers to pledge to do something for the earth today. I am one of the lucky bloggers representing the state of Florida.
I encourage you to visit the B Kind 2 Earth Day Facebook page and click “like”. Also, share your ideas on their wall. By doing this, you are pledging your support. Even though these suggestions may seem small, together, we can really make an impact!
Happy Earth Day!
