Press Release: Nation’s Hottest Concept In Fitness Coming To Orlando

NATION’S HOTTEST CONCEPT IN FITNESS COMING TO ORLANDO

barre54 Scheduled To Open In Winter Park in April

WINTER PARK, Fla. (March 7, 2011) – One of the nation’s fastest-growing fitness concepts coveted by celebrities and exercise enthusiasts, alike, is coming to Orlando.  barre54, Orlando’s first fitness studio dedicated to the barre workout method, is scheduled to open in early April in Winter Park’s Hannibal Square.

barre54 offers a full body, cardiovascular workout inspired by pilates, yoga and ballet.  Each 54-minute class features a mix of isometric exercises and orthopedic stretches that challenge every muscle in the body, creating long, lean, supple muscles and strong, sculpted physiques.

“No other technique can touch the transformation provided by this method, which cultivates strength in body, mind and spirit for life,” said owner Carrie DeLozier, an Orlando native and life-long health and fitness enthusiast.  “We traveled the nation visiting all of the leading barre workout studios and infused barre54 with the best practices learned from our research.”  For example, barre54 classes will raise the tempo of traditional barre workouts through high energy music to safely increase cardiovascular training.

barre54’s techniques are rooted in the Lotte Burke Method, which was developed in the 50s by its namesake, a German dancer who used precise movements with correct body alignment to strengthen her injured back after a car accident.  The system worked so well that Burke established a London studio to teach others; it took hold in California in the ‘70s after one of Burke’s students bought the worldwide rights.  For decades, various spinoff concepts have enjoyed a devoted following by professional models, dancers, actors, trendsetters and celebrities, including Madonna, Kelly Ripa and Elle MacPherson.  In recent years, barre classes have surged in popularity as they are discovered by pilates and yoga enthusiasts, as well as joint-weary consumers seeking an effective alternative to high-impact workouts.

“Everyone at any age can be successful in a barre workout, which is why these programs are so effective and growing in popularity.  The program’s intensity can be self-paced and participants consistently improve as strength gains are made,” added Debbie Gray Hall, general manager.

The interval training method uses one’s own body weight for resistance training; muscles are targeted and overloaded to the point of fatigue, then stretched for relief.  Within six weeks, clients can expect results toward a sculpted physique, improved cardiovascular health, heightened strength and endurance, better flexibility, improved posture and many other benefits.

DeLozier and Hall will lead a team of highly trained, skilled professional instructors with diverse backgrounds within the fitness industry, including dance, yoga and pilates.  Most instructors are former or current professionals in the performing arts, modeling, themed entertainment and film/television industries, bringing an unparalleled level of creativity, enthusiasm and energy to every barre54 class.

“No two classes will ever be the same at barre54,” noted Hall.  “Each instructor can customize her/his class to accommodate the interests and fitness needs of the attendees. This makes a return to barre54 ever more fun, challenging and inspiring for students.”

Construction is under way on the 2,000-square-foot studio, featuring a contemporary décor punctuated by grey, orange and white walls, giant chandeliers and exposed ceilings.  Natural light streaming through large, frosted windows and lights on dimmers will create a soothing and body-flattering atmosphere.  Three hundred square feet of the space will be dedicated to retail, where consumers will find workout gear, swimsuits, cover-ups and jewelry from such exclusive lines as Vix, Eberjey, Robin Hayley, Whitley Designs, Karma, Splits 59, Only Hearts, Three Dots and Covet.  A second barre54 location is planned for southwest Orlando within the next six months.

barre54 will offer a variety of classes daily, seven days per week.  Prices range from $17-23 per class depending on the package.  The studio is offering a new client special of $125 for an unlimited monthly class pass. Other specials for new clients, students and new mothers are available.  Online class registration will be offered for added convenience.

barre54 is located at 444 West New England, Suite 101, Winter Park, FL, 32789.  For more information about barre54, call 407.622.7014, or visit www.barre54.com. To connect on Facebook, visit www.facebook.com/barre54.
