Monday Brew

So this morning, I woke up to the usual intoxicating aroma of freshly ground Starbucks French Roast coffee brewing. I couldn’t wait to fill my Minnie Mouse mug and enjoy. The only problem, yesterday my husband treated me to Starbucks coffee and now today, my brewed-at-home coffee just doesn’t taste as good. I didn’t even go into the coffee shop, so atmosphere had nothing to do with it.

I typically order specialty drinks (lattes are my favorite) when I go to Starbucks, so perhaps I forgot how delicious a cup of Starbucks coffee really is? I know it’s not in my head either because some of my Facebook friends have already chimed in and agree, coffee at home just isn’t the same. What do you think?

  1. I don’t drink coffee…. I have tried it many times. This way…. that way…. a million ways and it always tastes bitter. I just can’t get past that bitter flavor.
Chai tea, herbal tea, or pure awesome… Diet Coke!

  2. I cannot imagine not drinking coffee. I won’t hold it against you though. 🙂

Honestly, I can’t stand Starbucks…I think it’s the roast… way too bitter for my taste anyway. However, I love a good cup of coffee brewed at home. I like coffee with a nutty taste at the back of the tongue, but I’ve only had it like that 3 times in my life: once at the Jersey shore in some little breakfast joint on the boardwalk in Pt Pleasant, once at my cousin’s house who fresh ground the beans and once at the Princess Lodge in Fairbanks, AK…their coffee rocks! I think the water has a lot to do with it too.

Maybe try a french press- course grind. Also Starbucks people tell me brewing temp very important. As for post- agree if using drip coffee…
